Kind of bored, so I have a question.

Whats your opinion on pokemon?
Is it lame?
Kiddy?
Games okay?
Game sucks?
Show sucks?

Just like to see some opinions.

It got too big for its own good, the original was awesome but it ruined itself by stuffing the list with more pokemon.

Some feel
Gold/Silver and Crystal were the pinnacle of the series and not the original.

while the originals were good i would say gold/silver were the best in the series

the show is horrible but ive highly enjoyed all the gameboy/ds games

Used to play those first gameboy games when they came out. Good fun, seminars & lectures went quickly back then

Never tried the new games, silver etc.

personally im a fan of playing Netbattle.

I like playing pokemon competitively, can be quite hard =P

I loved the games, I think gold and silver were probably the best however ruby is awesome too. The show was awful and i think that pokemon lost it's way by just churning out more and more of them.

Has anyone played diamond and pearl? I havn't got them and would like some opinions

diamond was pretty good. a little on the easy side but if you liked the rest youll enjoy it

Diamond and Pearl are cool because they have online play.
Meaning playing competitively is easier to do and stuff.

You can also trade online, rather awesome IMO.

Ya the orginial ones were awesome. Once they advanced past Yellow version I lost interest... there will always be 151 pokemon imo.

And ya the show was horrid the trading card game was meh. Pokemon was killed by their attempt at a cartoon show.

adding new pokemon is fine if you play competitively.

Of course theres a cut off before it will go insane.
With each new game they changed mechanics.
Critical hits were based off Speed in the original, meaning that fast pokemon like Persian could obliterate.

In G/S/C critical hits were given a new formula that was much more balanced, and we got things such as breeding.

R/S/E gave EV points, D/P gave Move Specials.

Whats your opinion on pokemon? Generally, I like the concept, but they fell into the trap of trying to pull every single dollar they could out of it, and ending up with a lame peice of crap.
Is it lame? I've always liked the concept of things evolving and stuff, so not really.
Kiddy? It can be, but I don't think so.
Games okay? Best part imo, though some bits could have been better. Red/Blue/Yellow were great, despite their lack of... advancement (graphics and stuff was all meh). Gold/Silver was fun, though I wouldn't put it further ahead of R/B/Y, it's just that their techonlogy was a bit more advanced so it looked and played a bit better. Ruby/Sapphire had maybe 20 new pokemon, the rest were lame copies from good original pokemon (Hmmm, theres a fish pokemon that useless and crappy until you evolve it when it becomes a beautiful and powerful pokemon. What does that remind you of? Hmmm). I havent played Diamond/Pearl yet, because I haven't got a DS and I don't intend to get one.
Game sucks? Got worse as it went after Gold/Silver
Show sucks? Yup, lame kiddy stuff.

Funny coincidence...I'm at my parents' house for holiday stuff, cut off from GW, so I decided to download a Game Boy emulator and the yellow game two nights ago. I hadn't played it since 1999.

It's less interesting than I remembered

The variable statistical rolls are what I find most unpleasant: knowing that my starting, primary pet might be gimped for reasons beyond my control is maddening. I suppose I could've reloaded the saved game until I got one with desireable numbers, but why should anyone have to?

Sadly the show gave the game a sort of kiddy stigma over here, which is sad really, it was the "big thing" in primary school and the games are great

Gold/silve rwas the best for me, although i liked them all only a little dissapointed in leaf green/fire red. Didnt add enough to red/blue to make it worth it imo and it took away lots of the good points ruby/silver had.

DV's and IV's suck =P

Reroll is really annoying.

If you want since your using an emulator.

Put in a max IV action replay code or something.

Is it lame?:Nah, it's still a lil fun and i've always loved science and such(like how humans evolved, ect.)...this game got me into stuff like that lol
